Mexico is subject to a warm and temperate climate, with dry, tropical weather along the coastline and cooler temperatures in the mountains. Because of its very high altitude Mexico City enjoys pleasant spring like temperatures with warm days and cool evenings throughout the year. Average annual temperatures range from 14 degrees to 24 degrees. The rainy season takes place between the months of June and august with very little annual rainfall, except in the gulf coast lowlands or the mountains. Short, heavy showers usually fall in the late afternoon. CLOTHING: dress as you would for any cosmopolitan capital with a temperate climate. Light weight, easy-to-wash cotton for example. A pullover for cool mornings & evenings. A light raincoat would be useful in case of showers. It is also advisable to bring along a comfortable pair of walking shoes.
