Weather in Nepal
The kingdom of Nepal is a landlocked nation in south Asia. Climate ranges from subtropical monsoon in the tarai plain along the Indian border to alpine in the great Himalayas. Annual rainfall is more than 2,000mm in the eastern tarai, less than 1000mm in western Nepal. Monsoon period is from July to mid-October. Winter temperatures range from 15c degrees in the tarai area to -10c degrees in the intermontane basins. During the summer from April to June the range in these same regions is 30c to 20c degrees.
CLOTHING: medium weight with overcoat during winter and spring in the highlands. Lightweight and rainwear year-long in the southern district in summer in the highlands. Warm clothing is essential in the mountains.
