Weather in Egypt
Egypt is one of the hottest countries in the world; the climate is a temperate one with up to 8 hours sunshine per day. Summers tend to be very hot and dry, with mild winters becoming cooler in the evenings. In the northern regions of Egypt temperatures may reach up to 40 degrees. Average daily temperatures range between 30-35 degrees in the summer and from 18-20 degrees in the winter. Rainfall is scarce, except in the Mediterranean coastal regions.
CLOTHING: the coolest possible clothing is advisable for holidays during the summer months, warmer clothing may be needed for evenings. Good comfortable pair of shoes is useful when sightseeing. Shorts, etc., for men and women are not permitted when visiting mosques, and women will need to wear a headscarf. Egypt's hotels are mostly first class or luxury, so men may be requested to wear a jacket and tie. In winter light weight to medium clothing, with a wrap for the cooler evenings.
